Slammin Sam
Glad you found us. Welcome
t-man
im loving these extras.....all of them should have charted higher
Cjrmack
What number was "Kentucky Woman"?
t-man
now would there be a way that we will get to "fill in the blanks" with the extras you will not play but us chart geeks that are writing these down or keeping track will know what the songs are
Cjrmack
An Ellvis B-side that didn't chart?? That is a rarity!!
Cjrmack
Especially such a good song!!!
t-man
i never really knew elvis did this one even though terry stafford sounded like him and did better (?)
t-man
wow....should have chartd higher
t-man
see above comment
45 Hoarder
Dang once more. The Searchers and Troggs should have done better. Anyway, thanks for having me here.
t-man
welcome 45 hoarder
Slammin Sam
As for the extended list after the extras have been played I’m sure I can make it avaliable somehow
t-man
awesome sam....and awesome shows
t-man
51 on billboard?????? boy they were way off on this one
Fried Socks
I'm guessing Sam has more 45's than Joel Whitburn.
Troy in CA
Walk Away should have gone top 10 IMO.
Slammin Sam
No way. I’ve seen pictures of his. Im
Slammin Sam
I’m small potatoes compared to his collection
t-man
now im quite impressed with your collection.....im assuming a person could get lost in joels collection
Cjrmack
Here in So Cal James Gang "Walk Away" hit #16. Remember hearing that when I was 10 years old.
t-man
i remember the WWF wrestlers did a version of 1000 dances
Slammin Sam
Oh his collection like mine is very well organized
Fried Socks
I still have that Wrestling Album.
t-man
i have mine on cd....play some cuts on my college radio show
t-man
of course that was before covid shut things down.....havent done my show since march
Michael A
Timing was the reason that Elvis' 'Suspicion' did not chart. Stafford's version charted in Feb. '64 and had already been a top 5 hit by the time that 'Kiss Me Quick'/'suspicion' was released in April.
t-man
you said it all
Cjrmack
I am going to listen to the replay tonight on this. So many great songs!!!
t-man
you got that right
Slammin Sam
Welcome t-man
t-man
thank you sam.....whats funny is i have a preacher friend whose name is sam meyers
t-man
ive played this donovan song on my radio show....love it
Slammin Sam
Wow that is funny. Very cool
Jeff
It took 7 hours to play 100 songs. So the whole countdown should take 175 hours (which is the 3rd hour of the 44th week.) So I'm guessing the #1 song to be played November 5.
Rodney
It's gonna be a great year then smile
Cjrmack
Indeed Rodney!!!
Rodney
Give a Damn, Spanky & Our Gang... great message
Jeff
"Crazy Love" reminds me of another Van Morrison song, "Tupelo Honey".
t-man
can we play this for 2021 ?????
Michael A
Love 'Get Me To the World On Time'!
Ben in NC
I still can't believe that song 1111 hit 11 on all three charts!
45 Hoarder
That was an excellent set of songs for 64-73. Can't wait for next time. In the meantime, keeping it here for 82-91.
Ben in NC
Without You by Frankie and the Knockouts - Top 10 smash!
Slammin Sam
Yea what made it even wierder was it was played at 11:11 on December 11th the first time still gives me the willies
Jeff
R&R didn't even put "It's Gonna Take A Miracle" on their charts? Knotheads!!!
Ben in NC
The best we could do is 1:11 Eastern today, Sam, with song #1111. Weird, wild stuff!
45 Hoarder
“Don't Answer Me” is simply one of the greatest songs I have ever heard.
Jeff
You're right 45 Hoarder. SHCH!

at least part of it. It all doesn't fit in the picture. Small studio
45 Hoarder
Holy cow! That is some collection you've got there, Sam. Wish I could say mine is as organized but maybe someday it will.
45 Hoarder
Nice setup too.
Troy in CA
Great pics Sam!....I feel privileged to have been there to see it.ok
Troy in CA
It seems to me that the incredible odds of the number 1111 phenomenon gives an absolute validity and authority to the way these countdowns were organized.
Brock
RIP Phil Spector. Big time producer in the biz.
Slammin Sam
Wow! Big name, Bad guy, But a great producer.
Brock
Yes I left that part out.
Jeff
Good day! Ready to finish off the A-Z list with the Ys and Zs. ok
Charliebob65
Good morning and Happy Monday Sammy, Jeff and all TFO crew.....on to some quality music!
humphreycpa
Good morning Jeff, Bobby and all the TFO listeners. The A to Z journey comes to an end today. It's been a great run!
Roberto Rubio
Good morning
Jeff
Love Wilson Phillips but I have to admit this is one of their weaker songs. I would have loved to have seen "Eyes Like Twins" be a hit over this one.
Jeff
Sam, I guess you get Monday mornings to yourself after today. More time with the grandkids? That should be nice.
Jeff
Moody Blues should be in this last segment. Nice!
Ben in NC
Is Zoot Suit Riot in play in the next 90 minutes?
Anonymous104500
That would be yes.
Jeff
One more song to go looks like (and we all know what that is.)
Jeff
The whole list finished at the top of the hour. Did you do that on purpose Sam or did it just turn out that way?
Slammin Sam
Just worked out right
Jeff
Great A-Z Sam. Take care and have good Monday mornings.
humphreycpa
Thanks Sam for the weekly stroll through the playlist A to Z. As always some real forgotten gems and a lot of old favorites.
Jeff
So many goodies just missing out on the top 1000; such a shame.
humphreycpa
Good morning all! A stroll through January 1979 sounds good this morning.
GT25Ump
Yepper, bring on 1979 and some DISCO! ha
humphreycpa
I'll bet there are one or two disco tunes GT laugh
Charliebob65
Good Morning Sammy, GT, Humphrey and all TFO chat crew...Time for 79 music
Roberto Rubio
Good morning
Jeff
R.I.P. "Time Passages" sad Has to be the best song on this countdown.
humphreycpa
Good morning Roberto and Bobby.
humphreycpa
Happy birthday to Dolly Parton!
Cjrmack
I am not sure "I Will Survive" hearing this song on the countdown every week!
Slammin Sam
That will be 3 minutes and 30 seconds of your life you won't get back for the next 18 weeks. Got to take the good with the bad I guess.
GT25Ump
Thank goodness for the other great music to offset Gloria.
Cjrmack
Here comes Sir Nose
Cjrmack
Sam say that 3 times fast LOL
Slammin Sam
I'd have to sing it and you don't want that
Anonymous104693
Le Freak is back on top it looks like
Ben in NC
Always loved BJ's "Stiletto". Thanks for the unexpected extra, Slammin Sam!
Slammin Sam
Great tune, great album. Glad you enjoyed it
Ben in NC
Totally enjoyed it. Been holding onto BJ concert tickets for Charlotte for 1.5 years now.
Bill B
Ben are they saying that concert will still happen?
Ben in NC
Bill B.. it's still scheduled for April 17. Going to be interesting to see if you need vaccine proof or something like that? Outdoor concerts probably will resume shortly I'd think.
AC
Great extras here, including this song from Lou Gramm. This should have made the 40.
Ben in NC
Hate that these great tunes missed the Top 1000 but I'm sure the artist will take a Top 10 peak on at least one trade publication.
Charliebob65
Morning everybody... Happy hump day...on to 1980....bye
Jeff
Good day! Happy Inauguration Day to the Fox Chat. Now bring on the Summer of 1980. Today's installment has some Grade A tunes. ok
GT25Ump
Yes Jeff, Happy Inauguration Day, the nightmare is over. Time for music from a year that I've never been quite sure if it sounds like it's part of the 80's sound or if it's more just an extension of the the 70's sound, ha.
Michael A
That's why '80 and '81 are shunned byso many '80s stations (with a few exceptions, such as 'Jessie's Girl'smile. To radio, 'th '80s didn't really start until '82.
Justice
I remember when I recently heard LET ME LOVE YOU TONIGHT from The Pure Prairie League again, I was thinking "wow that sounds just like Vince Gill" to my surprise.
Justice
I started listening to Country music after the Top 40 was primarily R&B, Rap and Alternative music.
Justice
Pop Rock was for the most part dead at time.
Justice
Michael A, thats true, however if you listen to the songs that didn't chart as high during 80 and 81, you will hear a lot of the new sound that started like you said in 82. Perfect example is New Romance (It's a Mystery) by Spider
Ben
If I'm Sylvia, I am framing the Cashbox chart that has "Nobody" peaking at number 9.
Ben
"A Better Love" by Londonbeat should have topped all of the charts!
Jeff
Tomorrow, we crack the top 1000. ok
humphreycpa
Good morning TFO peeps. A nice warm up to this week in 1989's top hits with Sleeping Satellite.
Ben in NC
Going to be a great day on The Fox. 1989 with a new Cashbox chart unfrozen should provide chart movement and then the Top 1000 this afternoon 1982-91!
Jeff
Bring on 1989. ok
GT25Ump
I'll second that!
Charliebob65
Good morning Sammy, Humphrey, Ben, Jeff and GT. Onward to 1989
GT25Ump
OH, did I have a thing for the group Breathe, back in the day, and in particular, Don't Tell me Lies, really good song.
Brock
Good morning TFO pals. Been a busy week miss you guys, let's have some fun with 1989.
Jeff
"It's No Secret" SHCH!
humphreycpa
Good morning GT, Jeff, Ben, Bobby and Brock.
Charliebob65
Good Morning Brock, How's western Mass today?
dave in PA
Morning all been a while.... hope everyone is well
Brock
Hi Rod, Hi Bobby. Gray and cool (22) here Bobby but this has been a one storm winter and knock on wood my plow bills have been a one hit wonder to date. How's everything there? Bills mania struck yet?
Brock
Hi Dave, how are you?
dave in PA
ever since last March it’s been hectic... wife working from home and 60 plus hours a week non stop. I miss hockey ... Ahl back in February
Brock
Sounds it hang in there. Good for you on AHL, our local one said no to the season. NCAA hockey for me has been full steam ahead so I've ben very lucky. Got a pair with Providence this weekend.
Charliebob65
Brock, This town has gone crazy.... in a good way... Bills mania has hit a level I have not seen before.. Sabres, so far not much happening there
Brock
Yeah Bobby been watching the Sabres and a lot of NHL. Go Bills. Respect all the Chiefs talent, but this would be a good story.
dave in PA
That was impressive when 6000 people sounded like 50000
Brock
Yeah Dave I agree. I miss the fans to state the obvious. Love doing the games but nothing like 7500 packed in our building.
Brock
Rod Stewart. Probably one of the best 3-4 songs in the countdown.
humphreycpa
Agreed on the Rod Stewart song Brock. A very different sound in the late 80s/early 90s from him.
Brock
Now Rod, don't confuse my endorsement with any comparison to say, Rupert Holmes.no
Jeff
Rupert Holmes, coming in November to the 1979 countdown.
Brock
No Jeff No!!!!!! We don't recognize that song, only Him!smile
Jeff
They're both good.
Troy in CA
and also Answering Machine.
Brock
Hi Troy. Was waiting for that!
Troy in CA
Sam, Happy Anniversary to you and your lovely wife today. 37 years!
Jeff
Sam, just curious, by how much did Debbie Gibson miss making last week's countdown?
humphreycpa
I wouldn't dare Brock. Carry on, please...
Brock
@Rod Chat image
Slammin Sam
Thank you Troy. How did you find that out?
Slammin Sam
Jeff I don't have that info.
Brock
Hey Sam congrats on 37 years of wedded bliss!!! Happy Anniversary!! (LRB)
SteveS
Happy anniversary, Sam!!
humphreycpa
Congratulations to you and your wife! Happy Anniversary Sam!
Slammin Sam
Thanks Brock, Steve and Humphrey
Brock
Sam I have to say she must be an angel to put up with youlaugh-big
Slammin Sam
No I drug her every night after she goes to sleep. Been doing it for years.
Charliebob65
His wife is as close to an angel on earth as you can get...known her my entire life.... Sammy's not too bad either ...ok
Slammin Sam
I also slipped Bobby a mickey in his drink as you can tell
Slammin Sam
He is right about her however.
Charliebob65
silly
Brock
laugh
Brock
You guys are a pair
Brock
My favorite Sheena song. One of those best 3 or 4 in the countdown songs.
Ben in NC
Interesting taste, Brock. I can't put that Sheena song ahead of Sheriff, VH, Rod, Winwood or Chicago.
Ben in NC
And definitely not ahead of Mike+Mechanics
Ben in NC
But then again, I'm a big Sheena fan 81-83 before Prince got involved.
GT25Ump
Love me some Boy Meets Girl, including alot of their songs that didn't chart high or weren't even released as singles.
Brock
Ben, my taste unfortunately is all in my mouth. My music taste is skewed to the "mellower pop side" but don't mistake that for not liking a good rock song. Wish I could tell you it's my age, but it's been this way from wire to wire.
Brock
And Holding On by Winwood is my favorite from him.
Ben in NC
Enjoy the perspective, Brock. I'm in my 40s and probably love the Yacht Rock format the best!
Troy in CA
Sam, I remembered your anniversary from it being mentioned in a previous year...and since mine is so close to yours (January 24th) it stuck in my mind.
Slammin Sam
Great memory Troy! Thanks again!
Brock
Troy it will fall on Sunday so Happy Anniversary to you as well. May I ask how many years she has put up with you?
Brock
Ben, if done correctly, The Yacht Rock format would be a constant listen for me. But nobody digs like Sam for the #26 peaking YRR songs so I'm clobbered with the same America and Seals and Crofts songs so I stay at my home the TFO. Again, I like rock hits and dance/disco so Sam checks all the boxes
Brock
I'd stay anyway even if there was a good YRR entry because I'm a top 40 guy and Sam is the best, despite the crap I give him.
Ben in NC
Great point Brock. My favorite format is countdown shows with live DJs. TFO is the very best!
Brock
Like countdown shows too, so we're at the right place Ben.
Slammin Sam
Thanks guys
Jeff
Now on to the top 1000 of 82-91. ok
Michael A
Nice to hear these songs again, thanks! As usual, I've got my BB chart up in one window (via UMD) and Fox in another so I can compare the two.
Troy in CA
Brock, 33 years.
Ben in NC
Excited to hear the Top 1000 at the top of next hour. I discovered TFO last May during the Top 600 so the next 400 songs are going to be new for me.
Anonymous105126
Looking at this week's 1989 show and OMG what a big debut for Debbie. My guess is that she would have been on last week if it weren't for that frozen Cashbox chart.
Michael A
On BB Debbie debuted on the Hot 100 at 42 this week in '89. So she probably would not have been on the previous week's CB chart.
Anonymous105126
I was referring more how the frozen chart kept songs like "Desire" and "Bad Medicine" on for another week
Ben in NC
The beauty of blending three charts together. You really need all three charts open in separate windows!
Anonymous105126
We finally reached the top 1000 again
Slammin Sam
That picture that is shown fo rthis song fits. It sure sounds like what is in that well you know
Ben in NC
We're not going to let Biz Markee sitting on a toilet stain an otherwise great day, musically!
Brock
Troy congrats again that's great!
Jeff
Happy anniversary to you Sam.
Slammin Sam
Thanks Jeff
Slammin Sam

Brock
Good morning all my TFO pals.
Brock
RIP Hank Aaron. A great player who had to endure so much crap.
Michael A
Hitting the same position on all 3 charts (#27 in this case) has to be pretty rare.
Michael A
...especially down in the lower reaches of the charts.
Rodney
LOVED Hank Aaron
Roberto Rubio
The Jackson 5 had a song called "Hum Along And Dance"
Cjrmack
I am guessing Jackson 5 is same song. Motown artists remade each others songs a long in the 60's and 70's
Cjrmack
"a lot"
Roberto Rubio
I looked it up, yes it was a remake. I love the Jackson 5 version
Cjrmack
This Buddy Starcher song doesn't bode well for the President in 2060
Michael A
Haven't heard 'Soulshake' in decades! 5th grade memories--thanks!
Cjrmack
I think Delaney and Bonnie remade "Soulshake" in the early 70's.
Anonymous105262
have always loved this nancy sinatra song
Rodney
Love Kansas City Star smile
Slammin Sam
That was for you Troy
Jeff
If the song was recorded today it would have to be called Just Eleven Numbers. laugh
Cjrmack
Love "Your Time To Cry" by Joe Simon!!!
Anonymous105262

Michael A
Cjrmack: They did--#43 (BB) in 1970.
Anonymous105262

Slammin Sam
Old Man showed up at 2329 and The B side is The Needle and the Damage Done
Slammin Sam
you missed a double play
Troy in CA

Anonymous105318
Was it just coincidence that the 64/73 countdown ended with an announcement about the artist with the most songs coming up, and then the 82/91 began with that very same announcement?
Slammin Sam
yes it was a coincidence
Jeff
I'm pretty sure the Beatles have the most. Have we heard from the Supremes yet in the countdown? I'm thinking they may have the second most.
Matt in MN
Wow, interesting story in the outcue of "It's a Sin"...not sure how anyone would listen to that song and thing it sounds like "Wild World". Maybe just me...
BenP in NC
Love Oran Jones hit. "You're messing with the Juice!"
Anonymous105360
To anyone who has SiriusXM, Rick Springfield is now doing his own show on channel 8 every weekend

You're welcome! Thank you and Sam for keeping 60s music alive!
humphreycpa
Happy Monday morning to everyone! Let's tune in to some classic rock today.
Roberto Rubio
Good morning, yes I'm looking foward to hearing the Rock Top 500
Jeff
ready to count down some classic rock songs. ok
Anonymous105735
ready to rock.....these countdowns on fox oldies have bben awesome
Jeff
Sam, do you happen to remember what placed 501th on the coundown? It would be interesting to know which one just missed.
Slammin Sam
I have no idea. I would have to find the spreadsheet I used when I did this originally. And it’s been at least 8 years ago
Charliebob65
Good morning and happy Monday to all....
humphreycpa
Hi Bobby. I hope you are dong well this morning.
Charliebob65
I am well Humphrey. Thanks.. I wish the same for you
humphreycpa
Doing well here. Hoping we don't get too much ice today. One of those weather days where it could be snow, sleet, ice or rain. All within a few hour span.
Charliebob65
Good luck... Just cold here low 20's but sunny w/o significant precipitation forecast for today
Cjrmack
4 Countdowns this week!!! As Loverboy would say Lovin' Every Minute Of It!!
Roberto Rubio
"The Warriors" movie, In The City
Michael A
'the Warriors' was actually not a bad film. And then 'Xanadu' killed Michael Beck's career the next year...s

Upper 20s .... I am not sure how you can be in low upper 20s?
Brock
I dolaugh-big
Jeff
Low upper 20s: That's like around 26. As opposed to high upper 20s which is closer to 29. smile
Brock
Exactly
humphreycpa
Welcome to 1979 TFO listeners.
Charliebob65
Good morning Sammy, Humphrey and all TFO crew...let us enjoy 1979
Roberto Rubio
Good morning
humphreycpa
Sam's throwing some good extras already in the first hour-Kansas and the Babys.
GT25Ump
Good morning from snowy Iowa, where we picked up a foot of the white stuff, but made it to work (two hours late) and ready for some 1979!
Roberto Rubio
About 80 here in Florida
humphreycpa
Ouch man. omg
GT25Ump
Probably humid as well, Roberto? I don't mind the heat, but the humidity, ugh.
Roberto Rubio
Only humid during the summer and fall. Right now it feels good outside.
Roberto Rubio
When I drive to work, I see almost as many out of state license plates as I do Florida
Roberto Rubio
Alot of people come down to S Florida this time of year ok
Michael A
Almost woke up to snow in Tucson--just under the snow line. 38 and wet.
Slammin Sam
Gonna be close to 60 today in Texas. Nice right now.
Slammin Sam
Perry Botkin Jr who composed the song Nadia's Theme with Barry DeVorzon has passed away at the age of 87. He died on January the 18th.

Update--it's snowing! First time since Feb 2019 that the snow level has dropped this low (2700'smile.
Charliebob65
Snowing in WNY. We have had about 35-40 inches this winter ...almost half fell the weekend after Christmas
Michael A
Don't think I've heard this extended 'September' before. Sounds very 'bright'.
Ben in NC
It's a shame that Lewis's "Couple Days Off" missed the Billboard Top 10.
humphreycpa
Great new pictures on the website for the daily shows!
Slammin Sam
Thanks Humphrey
Ben in NC
Seger's "Even Now" should have gone Billboard Top 10 as well. Love those Roy Bittan keyboards!
AC
Nice extra from Shalamar! Hopefully Take That To The Bank is in the rotation at The Fox!

humphreycpa
Good morning all-Bobby, GT, Brock Sam. I hope all are well. I'm a road warrior the next 2 days.
Justice
I'm Alright by Kenny Loggins really had that new 80's sound.
GT25Ump
Yes, it did.
Charliebob65
Be safe Humphrey and happy trails
Justice
Madonna or her producers must have liked the opening to Never Knew Love Like this Before by Stephanie Mills.
Brock
Rod the road warrior! Like The Blackhawks on a 6 game road trip!
Brock
With Magic getting to the point of fried on YRR radio formats, Xanadu is a welcome listen.
Charliebob65
When I was a CPR instructor , we also used to use the appropriately named song "Staying Alive" as a reference for the chest compression rate...... I guess it comes down to pessimist or optimist doing the compressions.....question
Charliebob65
Staying Alive or Another One Bites the Dust....laugh-big
Brock
Larry Morgan!
Slammin Sam
James Purify of the duo James and Bobby Purify passed away on January 22nd from covid. He was 76 years old. Their biggest hit was I'm Your Puppet.
